MaKayla M. McDonald is a recent graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where she holds both a Bachelor and Master of Music in Voice Performance. During her time at UNI, MaKayla studied voice with Jeffrey Brich, vocal coaching Korey Barrett and Mark Bilyeu, and acting with Mitra Sadeghpour and Cynthia Goatley.

MaKayla has a passion for studying and performing new music. She has premiered various contemporary works; including those by Midwest based composers Ryan Stevens, Tim Ferry III, and Tori C. Ovel. 

Most recently, MaKayla sang the role of Harriet Tubman in the New York premiere of Thea Musgrave’s The Story of Harriet Tubman.
