MaKayla McDonald, Soprano, a native of Waterloo, Iowa is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where she holds both a Bachelor and Master of Music in Voice Performance.
MaKayla has a passion for studying and performing new music; she has premiered various contemporary works. This Summer, MaKayla will participate in dell’Arte Opera Ensemble’s Summer Festival: Voices From the Tower, where she will sing Ursula in Princess Maleine & Cendrillon in Viardot’s Cendrillon.
Other Roles include: Peep-Bo in The Mikado with Bronx Opera, Harriet Tubman in the New York premiere of Thea Musgrave’s The Story of Harriet Tubman with Utopia Opera, Frasquita in scenes from Carmen with City Lyric Opera, & Susanna in scenes from Le Nozze di Figaro with dell'Arte Opera Ensemble.
Off stage, MaKayla is a music tutor & supplemental instructor for the music department at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, sings regularly with All Saints Episcopal Church - Woodhaven, & has a small private voice studio.
When she isn’t working, you can find MaKayla out exploring the city, searching for tacos, or drinking rosé on a blanket in Central Park!
